Description

The Thevetia is a small to medium-sized evergreen tree that belongs to the Apocynaceae family. It is native to Central and South America, but it is now widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions around the world. The plant can grow up to 60cm to 120cm in height and has a dense, bushy habit with glossy, dark green leaves that are lance-shaped and pointed at the tip.

The Thevetia produces beautiful, fragrant flowers that are trumpet-shaped and come in shades of yellow, pink, and white. The flowers are borne in clusters at the end of the branches and bloom throughout the year, with peak flowering occurring in the summer months. The plant also produces small, fleshy fruits that are green when young and turn yellow or orange when ripe.

Despite its beauty, the Thevetia is a highly toxic plant, and all parts of the plant contain potent cardiac glycosides.
