Family

Gasteria is a species from the affodil  family and is part of the succulents. Gasteria plants have fat, fleshy leaves that often form rosette shapes. It is an ideal indoor plant because it needs little care. It does like to be in a well-lit spot. Varieties come from South Africa and Namibia.

Grown primarily grown for its attractive succulent rosettes of yellow spots on green leaves with soft white spines, Aloe Aristata belongs to the Aristaloe genus of flowering plants native to South Africa. It commonly called the “slippery one.” The stemless plant produces long, soft, succulent leaves with tubular orange flowers. It’s another unique plant deserving proper care.

This plant grows best in full sun in warm regions and prefers dry weather. It doesn’t need a lot of sunlight. Keep the plant away from direct sunlight. While the plant needs regular watering, remember this is a succulent and is drought tolerant. Allow the top half-inch of soil to dry between watering. Try to pour the water around the base of the plant instead of over the leaves. If water collects in the leaves, you’ll increase the risk of rot. Use a commercial cactus soil mix with excellent drainage or make your own potting mix. If you decide to make your own sandy soil mixture, mix three parts regular potting soil to one part coarse sand, perlite, or pumice.

Plant Bio

If you saw a money tree, or Pachira Aquatica, in its native habitat of Central and South American swamps, you probably wouldn’t recognize it. The tree can grow up to 60 feet tall (versus a max of 3 to 6 feet indoors), and that ubiquitous braided trunk isn’t a natural feature. When grown in a nursery, the supple young, green trunks are slowly braided by cultivators before they harden and turn woody. Money tree plants often have their slender trunks braided together and are a low maintenance option for artificially lit areas. Money tree plant care is easy and based upon just a few specific conditions.

These plants like a moderately humid room and deep but infrequent watering. Water the plants until the water runs from the drainage holes and then let them dry out between watering. If your home is on the dry side, you can increase the humidity by placing the pot on a saucer filled with pebbles. Keep the saucer filled with water and the evaporation will enhance the humidity of the area. Remember to fertilize every two weeks as part of good money tree plant care. Use a liquid plant food diluted by half. Suspend fertilizing in winter. The Pachira plant rarely needs to be pruned but as part of your annual money tree plant care, take off any damaged or dead plant material.
