Description

Agave Americana is a flowering plant in the Asparagaceae family that is native to Mexico and Texas in the United States. The desert agave is a deadly and poisonous plant that is also highly lovely, making it a popular landscaping plant.

Common Name: Century Plant, Maguey, or American aloe, Desert Agave
Origin: Mexico and the Southern USA
Height: 3 to 6 feet
Light: Full sun but can tolerate lighter shade too
Temperature: 10 to 26 degrees Celsius

Watering:
For the first month or two, water the plant every 4-5 days. Agaves only need to be watered 2-3 times a month in the summer, or more if you live in a low desert area.

Fertilizer:
Use all-purpose fertilizers like N-P-K fertilizer in a 10-10-10 ratio for landscape method. When growing in pots, fertilize the plant once every two months using liquid fertilizers.

Re-potting:
Re-pot the agave plants to bigger pots every year which can boost the plant growth without any damage to the roots.

Temperature:
The best temperature to grow century plants is 10 degree Celsius.
